Fire destroyed several shops and items in Nkawkaw Adoagyiri, capital of the Kwahu West Municipality in the Eastern Region.
The incident happened on Thursday morning.
Some shops including a barbering salon, electrical shops, boutique, spare part shops among others were destroyed.
The cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained.
One of the shop owners told Citi News that the incident happened around 3am.
According to her, a noise from a neighbour who operates a saw mill in the area woke her up.
“The man was shouting for water to dowse the fire. So I gave him the little that I have and also tried to pick up few things from my shop but the fire was too strong. I had my mony locked up in the shop,” she lamented.
Another woman who had her shop destroyed also lamented that she stocked the shop with money from a loan she procured from the bank adding that she will have a tough time paying back the credit facility.
This comes barely a day after nearly 500 stores were also destroyed at the Kumasi Central market on Wednesday evening.
