The Judicial Council has removed three more magistrates from office, without their benefits, after they were indicted in the recent corruption scandal.
A statement signed by the Judicial Secretary, Alex B. Poku-Acheampong said the three “have been removed from office without benefits following a resolution at its Emergency Meeting on Monday, December 7, 2015 on ground of stated misbehaviour under article 151(1) of the 1992 Constitution.”

The statement added that the names of the three were left out from the announcement last week “because letters informing them of the Judicial Council’s resolution to remove them from office had not reached them at the time the announcement was made.”
They are:
1.His Worship Kaakyiere Atta Owusu.
2.His Worship Isaac Amoah
3.His Worship Stephen Azuure
The statement also added that Mr. Kofi Kyere, who is a High Court Registrar has also been removed from office without benefit for also being indicted in the corruption exposé.
The statement noted that disciplinary action has been taken against the under listed junior staff, who are not Judicial Officers and were cited in the petition.
- Peace Abuadzi – Circuit Court Registrar
- Daniel Dzata – District Court Registrar
- Elias Nkansah – Assistant Registrar
- Eric Ayensu – Messenger
“They were investigated by a Committee set up by the Judicial Secretary in accordance with Regulation 27 (2) of the Judicial Service Regulations, 1963 (L.I. 319). They have subsequently been dismissed pursuant to section 17 of the Judicial Service Act, 1960 (C.A. 10).”
According to the statement, the decision to dismiss Peace Abuadzi (Circuit Court Registrar) and Daniel Dzata (District Court Registrar) have been confirmed by the Chief Justice in accordance with Regulation 27 (2) of the Judicial Service Regulations, 1963 (L.I. 319)
However, the statement said the “Disciplinary Committee did not establish any act of misconduct against Benjamin Agyepong, a driver of the Service, who was also cited in the petition by tigereypi. His interdiction has therefore been lifted with immediate effect.”
