A total of 12,500 energy-saving bulbs have been distributed in 80 communities in the Eastern Region by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) .
The distribution formed part of a community education tour on energy conservation in the Upper Manya , Kwahu Afram Plains North, East Akyem , Suhum, West Akim, Birim North and the Denkyiebuo Districts .

Mr Michael Baah, Eastern Regional Manager of the ECG said the initiative formed part of the company’s corporate social responsibility, and also sought to educate customers on the need to conserve energy.
Mr Abraham Lincoln, Eastern Regional Marketing Manager of ECG, educated customers on energy conservation, billing cycle, metering, new service connection and safety tips.
The customers were also cautioned to desist from illegal connection and other related activities that hampered the work of the ECG.
He said that anyone found culpable would be made to face the law.
