A Kumasi Circuit Court presided over by Mr. Samuel Ansah, has granted  GH¢80,000.00-bail each to a spiritualist and a farmer for defrauding a teacher.

Kwadwo Asare, 24, a spiritualist, and Kwadwo Nnuro, a 48-year-old farmer, pleaded not guilty and are to re-appear in court on November 17.

[contextly_sidebar id=”A4ijQogimZ0QL4q1sm88RKVyPwQlKDyw”]Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Felix Akowuah, said Bartholomew Asante is a teacher residing at Asante Bekwai, while Asare and Nnuro are relatives, residing at Manso Odaho.

On May 7 last year, Asante was introduced to Asare by a taxi driver as a spiritualist who could double  his money for him.

During negotiation, Asante agreed to the deal and gave Asare GH¢20,000.00 to be doubled, but Asare failed to double the money.

Chief Inspector Akowuah said Asante did not trust the transaction, and decided to quit, but was threatened by Asare to continue with the deal or lose family members.

Nnuro, on the other hand, posed as a beneficiary of the services of Asare which encouraged Asante to increase the money.

Asante raised funds to the tune of GH¢56,000.00, yet Asare could not double the money.

Asare advised Asante to sell off his personal effects and rent out his room so as to raise more funds to be doubled.

Prosecution said, on September 15 last year, at about 0800hours, Asare called on Asante for additional money, but this time, Asante reported the matter to the police and Asare was arrested.

Asare led the police to arrest Nnuro and Asante’s belongings were retrieved from him.

During investigations, Asare admitted having collected the money to the tune of GH¢40,000.00, adding that he gave GH¢10,000.00 to Nnuro.

Nnuro, however, denied neither having conspired with Asare, nor having received the said amount.
