The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), is asking its members to support the leadership of the party tomorrow [Friday] at its headquarters as it protests over a recent raid at the premises.
A statement signed by the Deputy Director of Communications of the NPP, Perry Okudzeto, asked all party members and Ghanaians to wear any red or black attire to signify their displeasure over the development.
[contextly_sidebar id=”1Q7Xs3hFEtxaOvtMkppM5Bt5PAdwRbfz”]”We call upon all Ghanaians who believe in, and want to protect our democracy, to express their outrage boldly by joining in marking #RedFriday by wearing red, or black with red armbands. An attack on the opposition is an attack on democracy. Show solidarity. Wear #RedFriday,”the statement indicated.
Last week Monday, some persons dressed in military uniform, were led by others in plain clothes to carry out the act.
Items taken away from the office include the hard disk of the computer used by the party’s Director of Elections, Martin Adjei Korsah-Mensah.
Police officers have since the incident been on high alert at the premises of the party as investigations are underway.
The NPP believes some powerful people may have masterminded the incident.
The party further indicated that it will organize a press conference about the incident.
“On Friday 27th November, 2015 at 10 am, members, sympathizers, executives, MPs, and the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will gather at the party to speak about the outrageous, orchestrated Monday dawn raid by enemies of democracy, under the worrying guise of the state.”
