The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), has postponed its primaries which was slated for November 7 to November 21, 2015.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the party’s General Secretary, made the announcement after an emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Monday.

He explained that they had an ambitious plan for the election but it has now come to their notice they cannot meet the schedule.
The processes leading to the party’s primaries have not been entirely smooth as some parliamentary aspirants who were disqualified are still contesting their disqualification.
Some members of the party have also complained about the party’s biometric voters’ register alleging that the register in some constituencies contain names of non-NDC members.
Last Thursday, some angry NDC members in the Ledzokuku Constituency in Accra destroyed the party’s voters’ register ahead of an exhibition exercise.
