The Paramount Chief of the Battor Traditional Area in the Volta Region, Torgbega Patamia Gzekle VII, has declared his support for the incumbent Member of Parliament for the North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and further called on the people of Battor to do same.
According to him, for the area to enjoy more development projects, the legislator must be maintained.
Ablakwa, who is being contested by two other candidates in the NDC primaries, is seeking to represent the people of North Tongu for a second term.
Speaking at the campaign launch for Okudzeto Ablakwa on Sunday, Torgbega Patamia reiterated that it was imperative to maintain him because of his track record in the development of the area.
He stated “even though traditional leaders are not to be involved in partisan politics, let me ask? If your son is climbing a tree, will you not assist him to climb the tree or you will allow him to fall? Who among us will see his lamb falling in a dam or in water and will not stretch his hand to lift him up?. It is on that basis that I am here today. He is the one delivering on his promises. Will you allow another person to come and start afresh? Let us build on his achievements. Lets support him; let us give him the all necessary encouragement to deliver on his promises, because he has done a great deal for us.”
Torgbega Patamia added, “Let me pose this question, we have had several Parliamentarians in North Tongu; when was the last time you remember that any of those people built a classroom block for your child, built a Kindergarten for your child, built toilet facilities, electricity, the least said about it the better. Now all of us can stretch our hands and touch the wall and there is light.”
