Local Government and Rural Development Minister, Alhaji Collins Dauda has described the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly (TAMA) as a shinning model in implementing government projects.
The Minister got impressed with the Assembly’s performance after inspecting some completed and ongoing projects in the Tamale Metropolis.
Alhaji Collins Dauda commended the Assembly for operating in line with the Better Ghana Agenda.
According to him, the construction of modern markets in the Metropolis is to facilitate trade as means of poverty reduction.
He anticipated that the modern markets when complete will attract traders from neighboring countries.
The Minister reaffirmed government’s commitment to create opportunities that will enhance the income levels of residents of the area.
He implored contractors working on the ongoing projects to complete them on schedule.
The Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, Alhaji Abdul Hanan Gundado showed appreciation for government’s concentration on the area.
He promised to judiciously use the available resources to undertake projects which will enhance the income levels of the people.
He revealed the Assembly’s intention to plant 20 million tree seedlings to accomplish the green Tamale project.
Alhaji Gundado said the Assembly will do it in collaboration with the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) other development partners.
The Assembly has so far expanded infrastructure in various parts of the metropolis.
These include roads, street lights, water extension, Water Closet toilets, storm drains, market stores and sanitation facilities.
Moshie Zongo, Tishigu, Salamba, Aboabo, Gumani and Nyohini are among the beneficiary communities.
