President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwesi Nyantakyi is not ruling out the possibility of contesting the FIFA Presidency in February 2016.

This comes on the back of FIFA’s ninety day suspension of its President Sepp Blatter, UEFA President Michel Platini and Fifa General Secretary, Jerome Valcke, over allegations of impropriety.

Prior to the suspension of the three, several persons in football circles from different continents had announced their bid to enter the race to succeed the beleaguered Fifa President, Sepp Blatter.

Speaking exclusively to Citi News on the possibility of vying for the topmost football job, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi said although he welcomes the confidence reposed in him by influential figures, he is yet to make up his mind.

But the legal practitioner and football administrator appears interested in the job whether now or in the future.

“I have no doubt at all that maybe at the right time, I could be a candidate one day. I also appreciate the show of confidence that I have received from all those who think I could be a candidate; I welcome that very much but I have really not considered it. It is something that you need to consult with your family, close associates, people you work with on the federation and then the CAF. These are your families in football and you need to do that. I have not done that and so I cannot state now whether I will be a candidate or not”.

“But having said that, already we have two people who have declared their interest from Africa; we have Musa Bility from Liberia and Segun Odegbami from Nigeria and we are also hearing of other names from South Africa. The deadline for submission of candidacy is the 26th or 27th of this month so there is still time for us to reflect”.

Asked whether there was a possibility of him joining race before the deadline elapses, he retorted “Everything is possible under the sun; the only thing that is not possible is to turn a man into a woman; and so everything is possible at this time” he stated.

Meanwhile Mr. Nyantakyi, an avowed supporter of Sepp Blatter, has hailed the organization for provisionally suspending him.

Mr. Nyantakyi says FIFA deserves commendation for provisionally suspending Sepp Blatter, Fifa General Secretary Jerome Valcke and UEFA President Michel Platini over allegations of impropriety.

Members of Fifa’s ethics committee met this week after the Swiss attorney general opened criminal proceedings against Blatter, 79, last month.

He is accused of signing a contract “unfavorable” to football’s governing body and making a “disloyal payment” to Uefa president Michel Platini, 60.

Swiss Blatter, who has run Fifa since 1998, and Platini, who wants to succeed him, deny any wrongdoing.

Cameroon’s Issa Hayatou, who’s President of CAF, has been named as the acting Fifa president; making him the first African to lead world football’s governing body albeit momentarily.
