The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSSAG) has served notice it will advice itself accordingly if Government fails to pay members’ outstanding allowances by 30th October 2015.
JUSSAG in a letter signed by its General Secretary, Derrick Annan, and copied to the Chief Justice and the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, said their demand is in relation to a statement made at the Kumasi staff durbar and meetings held on 11th September and 12th October.
[contextly_sidebar id=”JSijDTVmW95xNtJeYacX3xYtBPOxk5m4″]JUSSAG is demanding allowances for overtime, leave, fuel and rent for the first to third quarters of the year 2015.
In the letter dated October 20, JUSSAG said “We are forced by the continuous pressure and frustration among our rank and file to demand by if by Friday October 30th 2015, nothing is heard with respect to the payment of the above allowances. We would advise ourselves accordingly. Respectfully, we request management to avert this simmering agitation. We look forward to your earliest reply”.
JUSSAG in May this year embarked on a strike that disrupted justice delivery in the country’s courts over unpaid allowances.
They called off that strike eventually after they were paid their allowances.
It is thus unclear which unpaid allowances they are demanding again. Efforts to seek clarity from leadership of JUSSAG have proved futile for now.
