The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCCA) will soon submit to cabinet a new proposal expected to protect customers and patrons of the aviation industry in Ghana.

Currently Ghana’s aviation sector lacks the consumer protection charter which is to protect customers from being short changed by airlines operating in the country.
This follows complaints from some airline passengers over what they term as ‘unfair treatment’ by some airlines operating in the country.
Manager, Business Development and Statistics at the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCCA) Rev. Stephen Wilfred Arthur speaking on Citi fm’s consumer focus show Business Today said “in these draft regulations there are issues concerning consumer protection, and when we talk about consumer protection in further details we are talking of denied boarding, cancellations, delays, right to compensations, reimbursement or rerouting, right to care obligation to inform passengers of their rights and we also have dispute resolution mechanisms as well as sanctions and penalties. We hope that from the Transport ministry it will be approved by cabinet and then it will move to parliament soon.”
Rev. Stephen Wilfred Arthur adds that ‘as it is with the Minister of Transport we hope it will be passed soon as it has gone through all the stages of consultations within the industry and has been okayed by all players’.
