The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has noted that air flight activities to and from Tamale in the Northern Region have been interrupted because of the accident involving a Starbow plane earlier today.

[contextly_sidebar id=”sHG6qpKrKp6gMsQBZ4fWNZrkNYm8FOFi”]Speaking on Eyewitness News, the Deputy Director of GCAA, Abdulai Alhassan said they are at the place investigating the cause of the accident and they will relay their findings to the public on Wednesday.

“Airlines are going normal. There is no cause for alarm. It’s not as troubling as you may think. Our people are on the site investigating the issue and by tomorrow they will give us their first report but the standard report will be ready in two weeks’ time,” he said.

Passengers on a Starbow flight were disembarked hurriedly to safety after the flight, S9110, had an accident just when they touched down at the Tamale Airport

The plane crashed through the runway barrier at the  Airport on Tuesday.

Abdullai Alhassan also told Ghanaians and airline patrons not to panic over the matter saying GCAA will continue to ensure high security and safety measures are adopted by airlines.

Also speaking on Eyewitness News, the Chief Executive Officer of Starbow Airlines, Eric Asante apologized for the accident adding that they are doing everything possible to avert such occurrence  in the near future.

“We are safe, we are doing whatever we are supposed to do. It’s just one of those things that we don’t expect that it should happen but Ghanaians should bear with us, we are quite safe in our operations,” he added.
