The Police have headed to the courts for the second time to secure a restraining order to prevent pressure group, Let My Vote Count Alliance, from picketing at the Electoral Commission (EC) on Tuesday, Citi News has gathered.

[contextly_sidebar id=”0BrTEfjMfTW4jGvHFPgOzaemJgbD2x4D”]The earlier restraining order secured by the Police against the group about ten days ago has expired, compelling them to seek a fresh injunction.

An Accra Circuit court has given clearance for organisers of the march to go ahead with their planned demonstration on September 29, 2015.

Per the ruling, the demonstrators can also picket at the premises of the Electoral Commission (EC).

According the court, the exparte  injunction secured by the Police had elapsed its 10-day lawful existence, hence the green light for organizers of the demonstration to picket around  the EC.

The Police have expressed concern about the planned picketing at the EC citing security reasons.

If the request for a restraining order by the Police is unsuccessful, demonstrators tomorrow will be allowed to picket at the EC.
