The MENFYD Foundation, a non-profit organization has launched a project to empower young women nationwide.
The nationwide project Dubbed “The Story of Our Lives Project”, is a practical mentorship drive for the girl child that seeks to encourage female students to focus and strive to achieve their vision.
It also aims at assuring the girls that hard work, determination and dedication yield positive results while demystifying societal views that females cannot succeed without sacrificing their morality and virtues.
This year’s event which is the maiden edition is expected to be replicated across the country in subsequent years.
Speaking at the launch, Founder of the MENFYD Foundation, Dr. Bettina Ama Boohene-Andah stated that distinguished female professionals including her will tour the country to share their unedited life stories as a practical way of mentoring girls at SHS level.
She added that the professionals would include adolescent reproductive health experts, who will feature prominently in the discussions in a bid to enhance the knowledge of the young girls, in respect of what appeared as a “Taboo” subject.
Dr Boohene-Andah said the project is targeting 200 girls from selected SHS’s in every region of the country, who will in turn propagate the information to their peers.
The Second Lady, Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur, who was the Special Guest of Honour, was optimistic the program will help the girls of today’s generation find answers to their problems. She was also hopeful that the girls would benefit tremendously from the experiences of the tour team.
The MENFYD Foundation was established a year ago and funded by philanthropist organizations in countries across the globe.
The “Story of Our Lives Project” is in collaboration with the Girl Child Education Unit of the Ghana Education Service.
