that red flag and rather ponder critically about who we choose to lead us in
this constituency. My humble appeal to the entire executives of the National Democratic Congress, is to avoid acts that will divide the front of this party. This is a democratic party, let us remain democrats, and members who are qualified to vie
for the MP slot and have met all other requirements must be allowed to compete,
for it is through competition that we can get the best from among us to lead
the people.

The previous practice of pleading with aspirants to allow candidates to contest
unopposed and which also does not make us democratic in this Constituency, seem
not to have brought the best for our people. Again I do not believe in rotating
the ‘MPship’ between and among towns and Districts. It should not matter if all
our MPs come from the same village .What should matter to us the most is
whether they are serving the people in the right and proper manner. Whether
they are capable of offering quality leadership, able to deliver projects and
development, and whether they can help formulate good laws for Ghana.

Leadership positions in our time today must not be abused to bring damnation on the people because for lack of knowledge we are perishing. The idea of rotating the MP slot should not be entertained on any day. It could be the genesis of trouble
for our party. If the best of candidate who can deliver comes from Ziope let
the people vote for that person, on the other hand if he comes from Kpetoe he
equally deserves to lead us. Just as the first President of Ghana hailed from Nkroful in the Western region and whose legacy continue to benefit all Ghanaians today.

For us to see rapid change in the development of our people, it requires a leader
who can bring transformation and propel the constituency to higher heights than
we have today. We must try our possible best to look for a man of integrity who
can lead us towards that change. This can only happen by choosing visionary,
selfless, proactive, decisive and innovative leader. Someone who is ready to
serve and does not expect the people to serve him: someone who puts others
first rather than himself, a person that can unite the party and the people. Let
us remember that leadership is about leading the people with clear conscience,
and commitment to bring change in the lives of the people. We do not need
people who will come and manage the status quo. Many in our society today are without competency skills are trying to manage leadership positions which require
different qualities altogether; now has come about largely as a result of the
pecks and goodies attached with these positions. We need to discourage these
tendencies through using the right criteria in choosing our leaders. This will
guide against persons who seek the peoples’ mandate with the intention to amass
wealth, mistaken leadership positions to that of job opportunity. My Brothers
and Sisters we will not progress with this kind of leadership.

People must contest and win on their own strengths. Let the delegates decide on who should lead us. We must break away from always endorsing candidates instead of electing them through competition, that way the candidate will know the
position was not handed to him/her on a silver platter. This was the reason why
Charles Agbeve and I were calling this Constituency to go democratic since 2008.
We pick forms to contests the incumbent in our primaries but…

This is a democratic party, let us remain democrats.
