The committee set up to investigate the 22 judges involved in the judicial scandal has suspended sitting to September 25, 2015.
This is because of the many lawsuits brought against them by some of the judges implicated in the scandal.
[contextly_sidebar id=”LRgLvOKviFF9tmcKK4ArMrkBD8EPMZDF”]Some of the judges have sued the committee and the Chief Justice questioning the legitimacy of the process used in suspending them.
One of the lawyers of the judges, Mark Diamond confirmed the latest development to Citi News and said “It’s because of the injunction application we filed.”
“We were saying that the procedure being used and the constitution of the panel itself is not in accordance with the law so we are asking that the matter be looked into.”
He said “as at last week they [Judicial Committee] were not aware [of the application] but now they’ve been served and they are now aware of the application. So they are under obligation by law to wait until the application is heard before they continue.”
