The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo is heading for the Eastern Region with his ‘Rise and Build’ tour, but the General Secretary of the party, Kwabena Agyepong has revealed he has been kept in the dark about the movement of the flagbearer.
His comments come at a time the party is attempting to seal deepening cracks ahead of election 2016.
Speaking to Accra based Okay Fm on Monday, the party scribe said apart from the ‘Rise and Build’ tour, he has been neglected in many other official activities of Nana Addo.

First and foremost as of the time I was leaving Ghana on the 21st August, I don’t think the Presidential Candidate had planned to inform us of the tour.”
“National Executives went for a meeting and there was no indication that the date of the National tour was 2nd September. Infact it was on the 1st of September that I read on the internet that Eugene Arhin who is the press secretary to the Presidential candidate had issued a statement indicating that Nana Addo will start his tour in the Volta Region,” he stated.
Kwabena Agyepong was offended by the decision to exclude him from the preparations towards the event especially when he had held discussions with Nana Addo two months prior to the tour.
“I had earlier discussed with Nana Addo that he should start his campaign from the Volta Region. I had even called the Volta Regional Chairman and asked him to start making preparations. I told him to spend about two weeks in the region but the date [for the tour] was never communicated to me…so it is not fair that people create the impression that I have deliberately left the country ” he lamented.
“What I know is that I have made up my mind to serve the party but it is important to let the people know what is going on.”
Nana Addo has been in the Volta Region, meeting with regional and constituency executives and NPP parliamentary aspirants.
He is hoping to prepare the party for a campaign that will “energise Ghanaians to help build and restore the country onto a path of progress and prosperityj,” a statement from his office said.
