He said filing of nominations would end on September 10.
Madam Tetteh, who is also Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, said when Mr Afireye and his colleagues brought the form to her, as a native of the area who has the development of the area at heart, she had no other objection than to embrace their move in good faith.
She said the gesture meant they still have confidence and trust in her to lead the party to victory in the 2016 election.
The MP pledged to continue to offer selfless and accessible leadership, and work to address the needs of the constituents.
She said her intention to contest is not because she is “power drank,” but as a native, she has the development of the constituency at heart.
Hanna Tetteh also promised to lobby for more developmental projects to the area to help improve the living standards of the people.
