A building, which formerly served as office for the Tano North District Assembly in the Brong Ahafo Region, has been razed to the ground by fire.
The incident happened around 2pm yesterday [Sunday].
Though what triggered the fire is still unknown, Jerry Osafo, a NADMO personnel in the area blamed it on bad electricity connections.
Jerry Osafo told citifmonline.com, he suspected illegal connections from the building during celebrations last week at the community centre.
The NADMO personnel said he believes some of the wires the electricity was tapped from were not properly covered which might have triggered the fire.
“I was informed about the fire around 2pm on Sunday,” he said adding that they immediately called fire officers at Bechem, a neighbouring town, to help put off the fire.
“But before I got there, it had already destroyed a lot of offices. Five offices were burnt including the Community development department, Town and Country Planning, National Service and NADMO. For the NADMO office, their roofs were also ripped off,” he added.
Meanwhile, the fire officer in the town, Mr. Nassah confirmed the incident to citifmonline.com but could not explain the cause.
He said they are investigating the matter.
