The Asante-Akim South District Education Director, Ignatius Mwinbe Ere-Der has cautioned against teacher absenteeism within the district.
He warned that teachers found culpable in the act will be severely dealt with by the directorate.
Mr. Ignatius Mwinbe Ere-Der gave the remarks during a tour of a number of basic schools in the area with the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. De-graft Fokuo, as well as some officers of the education directorate to assess the state of education in the area.
He also explained that the GES is focused on raising the academic performance within the district through the optimal use of the contact hours.
The District Education Director further urged the school heads to be firm to enforce discipline among the teaching staff and work with stakeholders to make the school environment safe for the children.
Some of the schools visited included; Bompata D/A, Bompata AME Zion, Bompata Islamic, Wankyi D/A, and the Adomfe Presbyterian Primary.
