Nominations for this year’s ExLA Awards, aimed at recognizing and rewarding effective leaders as a means of encouraging good leadership in the country and in Africa has been opened.
This year’s awards event which takes place on 24th October, 2015 at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel seeks to award distinguished personalities in the areas of media excellence, women empowerment, peace promotion, entrepreneurship, arts and entertainment as well as youth development.
Other awards categories include, sports distinction, humanitarian services, pragmatic academia personality, distinguished traditional leader and distinguished institutional awards.
A new category, ExLA Young Achievers Category has been added this year to reward young people below the age of 31 in governance and advocacy, arts and entertainment and ICT solutions including deserving physically challenged persons.
According to the Secretary to the ExLA Awards Board, Mr. Clement Sefa-Nyarko, the few leaders who distinguish themselves in various fields of endeavour must be recognized as a means of guaranteeing the development of the continent.
“The primary vision is to significantly assist in minimizing poor leadership in Ghana and Africa at large. At a time when bad leadership in Africa has captured the headlines globally, it is important to exalt the few excellent leaders we have as role models, and to celebrate those leaders who have distinguished themselves in their various fields of endeavour,” he said.
“We at ExLA Group believe that good leadership guarantee development; and projecting excellent leadership can have positive effects on the young generation,” Mr. Sefa-Nyarko added.
Nominations for the awards is open for two weeks, from Tuesday 8th September to Monday 21st September, 2015.
