The Accra International Conference Centre on the 4th of August echoed with massive applause as the hundreds of dignitaries present at the launch of Preparations For A Long-Term National Development Plan For Ghana rose to applaud a thrilling performance from the Wogbɛ Jɛkɛ cast.
The cast performed a gripping 15 minute version of their play which first staged at the National Theatre on the 4th and 5th of July. The skit was an intense and exciting narrative of Ghana’s post-independence history. It was a fusion of music, dance, acting and poetry by Chief Moomen. It featured a rich display of Ghanaian culture and captured the country’s transition from independence into the forth republic.
The audience was thoroughly absorbed by the spectacle and as the curtain came down on the performance, they were on their feet with a rousing applause. Among the dignitaries to grace the ceremony, organized by the National Development Planning Commission, were President Mahama and former presidents Rawlings and Kuffour.
The full play will rerun at the National Theatre on Saturday 22nd August with two showings each day at 4pm and 8pm. IT is written and produced by Chief Moomen, directed by Anima Misa Amoah and Abdul Karim Hakib and sponsored by Key Soap.
Tickets are going for 50ghc and 30ghc for children available at Osu Koala, Silverbird, Batsoona Total and National Theatre.
