Waakye, kelewele to be served on British Airways flights from Ghana

As part of efforts to meet the varying needs of its customers, management of British Airways has launched a new on-board menu from Accra to London.

The new menu which incorporates regional flair of both destinations will also afford passengers an opportunity to enjoy simple, but flavourable cuisine that uses traditional cooking methods and fresh local ingredients.

The new menu would include dishes such as: Smoked Tuna Tartare, wasabi and lime cream with blinis; Grilled Grouper, Waakye sautéed cabbage with red peppers with Shito sauce; Spicy chicken stew, jollof rice, green peas, kelewele and grilled fillet of beef spring onion potato gratin, carrots asparagus and leeks with a morel mushroom sauce.

Kevin Leung, British Airways’ Commercial Manager for Ghana was hopeful that customers will be given value for their money, “we are very excited to have just launched a new on-board menu from Accra to London, which is in response to feedback received from our Ghanaian passengers,” he said.

According Mr Leung, the British Airways design chef worked closely with their local catering partner to develop an understanding of traditional Ghanaian food and the way it is cooked and prepared.

“With the new menu, customers will now be able choose from a range of local Ghanaian and Western dishes.” he said.
