Professor Mawutor Avoke has been appointed as Vice Chancellor for the University of Education, Winneba.
[contextly_sidebar id=”I2OyAkG5QppjKoVdvkhYRacYLjnoXgUm”]A statement from the management of the University stated that, the appointment was made “at a special meeting of the Governing Coucil of the University of Education, Winneba, held on July 30, 2015.”
It added that his tenure takes “effect from October 1, 2015.”
Professor Avoke takes over from Professor Akwasi Asabere Ameyaw whose tenure of office ends on September 30, 2015.
The Council further appointed Mr. Viscount Buernortey Buer as the new University Librarian with effect from October 1, 2015.
Prof. Avoke has served two terms as Pro-Vice Chancellor for the University.
He joined the department of Special Education as an assistant lecturer in 1992/93 academic year and rose through the ranks to become an Associate Professor at the age of 39 and a Full Professor at 42.
Among the positions he has held in the University of Education are a former Director of the National Centre for Research into Basic Education, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Head of Department of Special Education, Chairman of Convocation and a Commonwealth Scholar.
