The Ghana Federation of Labour has said the 40-year National Development Plan will not benefit of Ghana unless it is fully understood and implemented.
[contextly_sidebar id=”jdoHTmZdXnAWKGpdGuCbzhlBO1XdWyHj”]According to the General Secretary of the Federation, Abraham Koomson, such development plans were dropped soon as a new government is elected into office.
The preparation for the plan which was launched a few days ago in Accra is deemed bi-partisan and is expected to serve as a guide to shape Ghana`s development.
Speaking to Citi News on how the plan can be fully implemented, Abraham Koomson suggested that there should be a law that will compel governments to strictly adhere to the blue print.
“Nkramah did a 20-year plan was not continued… these thing are nice, the talk show will go on but the implementation and the consistency of the implementation is another thing. Today, government A is there, tomorrow government B will come and this whole thing will change.’
He insisted that for the plan to be effective, government must “put measures in place where any party that come to power will be obliged or compelled to carry on and follow what the predecessors have left off.”
“Otherwise it will be like Nkrumah’s development plan that he started. In Africa we have a big problem trying to enforce some of these things so it’s nice that they have done it but I don’t know whether it will be followed by government that come and go,” Abraham Koomson noted.
