An Accra Human Rights court has set the August 31, to give judgment on an application filed by Human Rights lawyer, Francis Xavier Sosu seeking the court to set aside its sentencing for Charles Antwi, the gunman who went to President Mahama’s to kill him.
According to Francis Xavier Sosu, the sentencing of his client was a clear error of law in the face of the record.
He therefore prayed the court for a declaration that the applicant be subjected to mental health treatment in the facility of the mental health authority under the mental health tribunal.

She further told the court an appeal process which the AG has already initiated is the best remedy to the case not the certiorari brought by the applicant.
Charles Antwi was sentenced to ten 10 years imprisonment for illegally possessing a firm arm on his first appearance in court.
He also confessed in court he had wanted to assassinate president Mahama on the day he was arrested at the church of the president.
