Delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Gomoa East Constituency have elected Kojo Asomani as the party’s parliamentary candidate for the area.
He polled 205 votes as against his main contender, Dr. Marcus Yaw Danso who had 199 votes.
The Delegates went to the polls today following the dismissal of an interlocutory injunction brought before the Agona Swedru High Court.
The plaintiff, Mr Adolf Mfodwo, a member of the party in Gomoa East, had prayed the court to declare Dr Marcus Danso, the winner of the election which was held in the area in June this year.
He claimed that Dr. Marcus obtained 154 votes, while Mr Kojo Asomani had 153 votes.
But the Electoral Commission (EC) could not declare a winner because the two candidates polled 153 votes each compelling the EC to organize a re-run of the election.
