Government’s plan to recall retired doctors to fill the current gap created by the absence of the striking doctors seems to be yielding some results.

The hospital has recorded an increase in the number of patients due to the ongoing doctors’ strike.
During a tour of the hospital, some patients who spoke to Citi News said the situation is delaying healthcare delivery at the hospital.
Meanwhile, Police hospital Public Relations Officer (PRO), Corporal Faustina Afia Nunukpeku told Citi News that measures have been put in place to address the situation.
Corporal Nunukpeku confirmed that hospital have received some offers from some retired health professionals who are willing to return to work.
“Before the strike, we had six doctors but currently we’ve had three more, making them six. Already some doctors have requested to volunteer so they can help the situation,” she concluded.
Corporal Nunukpeku said hospital authorities will consider the request and put in place measures to allow the retired doctors work.
