Pregnant women who are on admission at the maternity ward of the 37 Military Hospital ward have resorted improvised bed and student’s mattresses on the floors of the hospital.
Authorities explained to Citi News that they are under resourced to provide the needed medical items for the huge numbers of pregnant women who turn up at the facility.
A tour of the maternity ward by Citi News’ Kojo Agyemang revealed that the ward is running a shift system for new mothers due to the huge numbers.
The administrator of the hospital, Lt. Col. Rex Adzagba said though the practice is inappropriate, it is the only option available for the patients for now.
New nursing mothers were found on student mattresses on the corridors at the maternity ward as well.
