The President of policy think tank, IMANI Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe is asking government to decentralize the hiring and payment of doctors and other public servants across the country.

Government doctors, pharmacists and university teachers are currently on strike for varying reasons.
The doctors are threatening to resign en block on August 29 if government does not work on their conditions of service document.
Speaking on Citi FM’s news analysis program, Bi Issue , Franklin Cudjoe asked doctors to insist on the decentralized process describing it as an antidote to the strikes.
“We want you to be part of the idea of devolution and give power to districts, municipalities so that they can employ us directly, stop the practice where I have to make sure I submit my documents to you and come and line up at the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department to take my 11 month salaries…It’s not progressive, it’s not scientific,” he stated.
