One of the defeated New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary aspirants in the Klottey Korle constituency, Nii Adjei Tawiah has announced his intentions to get the party’s leadership to re-run the election which saw Nii Noi Nortey emerged winner.

[contextly_sidebar id=”3ym3ZJuM8VmSDWLZRKdiRrU7MxgPmk3M”]The NPP members in the area went to the polls last Sunday amidst controversies.

Nii Adjei Tawiah and another aspirant, lawyer Philip Addion boycotted the election citing “lack of transparency in the processes.”

They further contend that the party’s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong “rushed” the primaries despite several concerns.

Prior to the election, a court dismissed an injunction brought before it over claims that Nii Noi Nortey presented a fake University of Ghana certificate when he appeared before the NPP’s vetting committee.

Nii Adjei Tawiah had earlier accused the NPP’s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong of “manipulating the election to favour one of the candidates.”

Speaking on Eyewitness News on Monday, Nii Adjei Tawiah insisted that he will petition the leadership saying, “if that is what they are telling us then I will do it because I want it to be done properly.”

“I don’t want us to fight all over the place. We have to be united to forge forward for the general elections. I don’t have any problem with Nii Nortey, I don’t have any problem with lawyer Philip Addison. If we do this thing that is what will make it easy for us to follow one peson.

“So I’m happy, if they are saying that we should petition them before they will take a decision, then I will do that because these are genuine concerns we are raising.”

In a related development, Kwabena Agyepong has rejected claims that he manipulated the Klottey Korle primary.
