The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, Nana Akufo Addo has stated that President Mahama lacks the fiscal discipline to rescue Ghana’s ailing economy.
According to him, the current economic challenges facing the country could have been avoided if President Mahama and his administration had exercised a bit of fiscal discipline.

The economic challenges compelled government to resort to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a bailout.
Speaking to NPP supporters in the UK, Nana Addo however said Ghana would not have turned to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to rescue the economy “if we [Ghana] had that fiscal discipline.”
He predicted that Ghana will continue to seek help from the IMF if public spending by government is not controlled.
He further noted that the last four years under the Mahama led administration have been characterized by constant sole sourcing of contracts and excessive borrowing”
This is not the first time the NPP Flagbearer has criticized Mahama’s government for the various challenges bedeviling the country.
In February, Nana Addo charged President Mahama to cut the lip-service, set his priorities right and respond to the growing concerns of Ghanaian workers.
Aside the huge budget deficit , the country was at the beginning of the year also battling with the cedi depreciation until the Bank of Ghana recently pumped in some dollars to save the cedi.
