The 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appealed to the people of Talensi to retain the seat for the NPP.
Speaking at a rally at Sheaga in the Talensi constituency ahead of the July 7th by-election, Nana Addo asked them to vote massively for the NPP parliamentary candidate, Thomas Duanab Wuni, to help bring the much needed development to the area.
“In voting for Thomas Duanab, you are sending a signal to the country that next year, 2016 the NPP and the elephant is on the way back to power, you vote for Duanab it means that next year the NPP is winning the general elections,” he remarked.
Nana Addo reiterated that the NPP is coming back to power not to steal the money of the people of Ghana but the NPP is coming back because the party has a workable plan to develop the country so as to bring progress and prosperity.
He declared that that he is not in politics to enrich himself but to help develop the nation saying, “I am not in politics to put money in my pocket, that is not why I am in politics. I am not coming into politics to steal the money of the people of Ghana, we are coming into power to help the people of Ghana develop this beautiful country.
“We are entitled to be a prosperous nation but not a poor country so I have come to asked you for your help and on the Tuesday July 7th I entreat you all to vote for Mr. Thomas Duanab,” he added.
Vice presidential candidate of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on his part described the John Mahama led administration as a “WAHALA” government that has nothing to offer Ghanaians except hardships and sufferings.
Dr. Bawumia urged the people of Talensi to assess the dire impact of the economic hardships they are going through as a basis to vote out the NDC as well as vote against the NDC’s Talensi parliamentary candidate, B.T BABA.
They later paid a courtesy call on the Talensi Paramount Chief, Tongraan Kugbil Song Namelteng for his elevation into his current status.
