Dionne Warwick is allegedly threatening to boycott Bobbi Kristina’s ‘sweet 16-themed’ funeral because she is offended by the idea.
Family and friends of the 22-year-old daughter of the late Whitney Houston are said to say farewell to her on Saturday at a ceremony in Alpharetta, Georgia.
But the Brown and Houston families are still at war and Whitney’s cousin Dionne disapproves of her aunt Pat Houston turning it into a ‘school prom party’, according to MailOnline.
A source said: “Dionne is planning a trip and threatening to not attend the funeral because Pat Houston is taking over even though she should be making decisions with Bobby [Brown, Bobbi’s father] and not doing it on her own.”
The family of the 22-year-old aspiring singer, who died at a hospice after being found unresponsive in a bathtub at her home near Atlanta on January 31, are said to be gathering to mourn and celebrate her life at St. James United Methodist Church.
She will then be buried next to her late mother at Fairview Cemetery in New Jersey.
After Bobbi’s death, Dionne, 74, paid tribute on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live show, saying: “She was a sweetheart, she will be missed, she was a good girl.
“It’s not easy. It’s [manageable] because of our faith that Bobbi is with a much bigger and more powerful person, or thing, that she’s in much better hands now.”
Speaking about the plans for the sad day, a family source told Entertainment Tonight that Bobbi Kristina never had a sweet 16 party or a school prom and said her funeral will be a celebration and “the Sweet 16 she never had”.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner released the star’s remains at approximately noon on Tuesday, after completing an autopsy to determine an official cause of death.
A source told UsMagazine.com that family members, including Bobbi Kristina’s devastated father Bobby, were originally hoping to hold the funeral earlier, but pushed it back to enable all of her loved ones to attend.
Medical examiners plan to perform additional testing, but so far it appears there were no signs of foul play.
Meanwhile, Bobbi Kristina’s father Bobby is said to be “taking comfort” in knowing his daughter is now “at peace”.
A family member said: “He is holding it together more than you’d expect. He knew it was coming. Of course he’s very emotional, but at the same time, he knows that Krissy is in a better place now.
“He is taking comfort in the fact that she’s with her mother, and that there will be no more sadness or pain. She is at peace. He knows that, and is taking comfort in that.”
