Ghana’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Saide Sinare has rescued a young lady from Kuwait after being maltreated in a home she worked in as a maid.
Recounting her ordeal in Kuwait, the victim who pleaded anonymity told Citi News she was forced to travel to make money to further her education to the tertiary level but ended up frustrated and almost commited suicide.

Narrating her ordeal to Citi News, she stated that she did not know about the country Kuwait but an agent in Ghana convinced that her she could get a job as a personal assistant.
Subsequnetly, she paid him to secure her a visa and she later bought a ticket and traveled to Kuwait.
But her woes immediately began when she arrived at the aiport.
“When I arrived at the airport, my passport was seized and I was kept in a room for 7 hours. Somebody from the agency came to pick me up from the airport and took me to the agency where they told me that I was supposed to work as a house help but I told them that I was not aware of that arrangement,” she said.
She was however unable to contact anybody back home in Ghana because her phone had been taken away from her.
“After two days, I agreed to work and then raise money to come back to Ghana. When I got to the house, I realized that it was slavery.”
Work 20 hours a day
The lady said out of the 24 hours in a day, she was made to work 20 hours.
Lucky for her, she got her phone back and “because it’s an android phone, it connected with the wi fi in the house and I started contacting friends in Ghana asking for help and they told me the Ambassordor was in Saudi Arabia.”
“When he [Ambassador] came in, he helped and I was released. At a point, I wanted to take my life but when he came in, he was very encourgaing and he called me everyday to find our how I was doing and was telling me what they were doing to help me get out of the place. He made me feel human again and actually bought me a ticket to come back home.”
In all, this is the fifth lady Alhaji Sinare has rescued and brought home from Kuwait.
