The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has dismissed assertions it did not put a human face to the recent demolition exercises in the capital.
The AMA embarked on number of demolitions in the capital following the flood disaster that claimed more than a hundred and fifty lives on June 3.
But those who had their property pulled down have hit hard at the AMA and its boss, Dr Oko Vanderpuije for not being compassionate.
But Dr Vanderpuije disagreed.
He explained that there couldn’t have been a better time to demolish the illegal structures in order to avert another disaster.
“We are putting a bigger human face to the whole thing. As you can see, they’ve been told to leave. What other human face are we looking for? We’ve given them ample time, we have told them that this is important and they must leave. Before April, we were here in January and gave them a warning. They did not move. We came in April again, so now we have 150 people dying, how much more should we wait?” he fumed.
