Fire is rapidly spreading through parts of Old Fadama, the site that has recently generated controversy after the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) demolished hundreds of structures.
Personnel from the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Zoomlion and 48 engineers regiment from the Ghana Armed Forces were at the site on Tuesday to collect the debris to make way for the dredging of the Korle lagoon and the Odaw River.
Four excavators meant to do the job have been moved from the site.
The residents are said to be trying to retrieve some of their valuables.
However, another demolition is ongoing at the same venue; this time, closer to the Korle Lagoon
