Teachers and pupils of Nyinahin Presbyterian Primary and Junior High School, have threatened to boycott classes following the incessant defecation in their classrooms.
For the seventh time this year, the classrooms, particularly the floors and blackboards were smeared with human faeces.
[contextly_sidebar id=”bfFhhgLfXqdfpRuyQYmpZmUjYIHZ08GR”]The situation is a big disincentive to teaching and learning as pupils have to waste a chunk of contact hours to clean faeces before they could settle down to learn.
In reaction to the problem Mr Stephen Yeboah, Atwima- Mponua District Chief Executive and members of the District Security Committee (DISEC) visited the school to interact with the authorities and also assess the situation.
Defecation in the classroom had been a common practice in the area, where some unscrupulous persons take advantage of lapses in the security network to perpetrate the act though toilet facilities are available.
Mr Yeboah asked the teachers to exercise patience as DISEC is strengthening its monitoring system to arrest the culprits.
Mr Antwi Boateng, head teacher of the school, described the act as ‘barbaric’ and warned those involved to desist from such acts.
Mr Collins Opoku-Boah, School Management Committee Chairman, called on the citizens to assist the police to arrest the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, the watchman of the school, Azumah Atani, has been arrested and helping the police in investigations.
