Four teachers have been arrested in Kumasi after they were caught solving some examination questions for candidates writing the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The Ashanti Regional Police Command arrested the suspects after an informant called to report them .
The Deputy PRO of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, Chief Inspector Godwin Ahianyo confirmed the arrest on Eyewitness News but clarified that the four teachers are not being held in custody for their possible involvement in the leakage of some BECE questions.

He said the three teachers were solving the questions in a room at Ahenema Kokoben and after the Police raided the place, they found a photocopier machine, one laptop, set of discs and a written answer sheet which has been photocopied.
They are said to have confessed that they were solving the questions for some of the students who were writing the BECE.
The suspects are Edward Fosu, Emmanuel Opoku, 29, a Mathematics teacher, Kenneth Kojo Boateng, 25, a French and ICT teacher.
The three then led the Police to arrest the fourth suspect, Boateng Collins, 29, a Religious and Moral Education teacher who was invigilating.
An amount of GHC 600 was found on Kenneth Kojo Boateng who confessed taking the monies from some of the students.
Chief Inspector Godwin Ahianyo indicated that the four teachers are currently in Police custody.
Asked when they will be granted bail, Chief Inspector Ahianyo explained that “we arrested them and got to the office around 1pm, we have taken the statement of the four of them and we are also trying to reach the WAEC officials in Kumais to come and assist us.”
“We have invited the supervisors at the center, Seth Kwabena Amponsah and James Kwaku Nsiah to come and assist us with the investigation. When we are done with our investigations, we will grant them bail and put them before court.”
The West African Examination Council (WAEC) is being investigated for the leakage and subsequent cancellation of some examination questions in the ongoing BECE.
The subjects are English Language 2, Religious and Moral Education 2, Science 2, and Mathematics 2 and Social Studies 2.
The papers will be written on June, 29 and 30, 2015 but already, some parents have threatened to sue WAEC while the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) are demanding the dissolution of the WAEC board and the dismissal of the WAEC boss.
