A 32-year-old driver who defiled a 15-year-old girl in a bush at Mayera, near Pokuase, was on Friday sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court.

Kofi Aboagye, charged with defilement, pleaded guilty and was convicted accordingly by the Court, presided over by Mrs. Rita Agyemang Budu.

The complainant and victim resided at Anyaa, near Accra, while Aboagye lived at Mayera, near Pokuase.

On May 18, this year, at about 1230 hours, the prosecutor said the victim left the house to visit her school mate at Manhia, near Amasaman.

On her way, she met the convict at the Agric Quarters at Pokuase, and he asked her where she was going to because she had missed her way.

Aboagye decided to offer his assistance by showing her the way to her friend’s house so they both walked for about one mile and realising that the convict was luring her into a nearby bush, she complained.

Aboagye, according to the prosecutor, told the victim that they will reach their destination soon.

On reaching a spot in the bush, Aboagye had sexual intercourse with the victim who shouted for help.

Neighbours, consequently, rescued her and apprehended Aboagye who was then handed over to the Police at Amasaman.
