Airtel Ghana, leader in Telecommunications and multiple award winning company raised funds for benevolent causes it supports by organizing an innovative and creative cashless flea market.
To add to the excitement and fun of the day, staff paid for their items with Airtel Money through its Tap ‘N’ Pay contactless payment based on the Near Field Communications technology and thereby adding a flair of technology.
Near Field Communications technology is a global communication standard that enables mobile devices to securely communicate with a payment terminal.
This method of payment has significantly reduced the number of steps customers have to go through when making purchases from their mobile wallet.
This innovation, a first of its kind in Ghana is bringing more convenience to customers, creating more time for them to shop or attend to other interests.
Staff made payments by simply tapping at the NFC device with their mobile phone to effect payment via their mobile wallet. Items for sale at the flea markets included everything from household goods, to beautiful handmade crafts and stationary. The selection was endless and the finds were superbly unique.
Donald Gwira, Head of Corporate Communications and CSR at Airtel Ghana, said: “The combination of our innovative, highly secure mobile money service and its payments capability builds on our strategy to provide the best solutions for customers. The Smartest Way to Pay service enhances our already robust offering by further enhancing our Airtel Money service.”
“By incorporating this solution, Airtel Money can offer its customers a comprehensive state of the art shopping experience which is fast, secure and easy” he added.
The event brought together more than 200 staff from Airtel Ghana. The flea market featured the accessories stands, books and stationary. The home and stationary stands drew the most attention of the staff.
