Former President Rawlings has attributed Wednesday’s flood disaster to the apathy by leaders at the helm of affairs.
[contextly_sidebar id=”mOH38ql2AhNweoKimAydmDNlLF94M3li”]Fire gutted the GOIL filling station around Kwame Nkrumah Circle following Wednesday’s torrential rains and killed over 90 people.
Several people who survived the accident are receiving treatment from various hospitals across the city.
While extending his condolence to the bereaved families, Rawlings also reprimanded those responsible for ensuring that such disasters do not occur.
“Having said that we are expressing our condolences to the parents and the wives of children who died last night….Look at what has happened? People who have passed away.Who will pay their fees tomorrow. Who will take care of them? … we are following money and we are being mindless of all that we need to do to ensure that things are done properly… this idea of every man to himself and God for us all is not good enough,”he said.
Other political figures such as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Nana Akufo Addo have also called on government to take drastic measures to resolve challenges associated with the recurrent floods.
