A teacher, who defiled an under-aged school girl resulting in pregnancy, has been sentenced to 18 years imprisonment in hard labour by the Juaso Circuit Court.

[contextly_sidebar id=”mIGE7Qe1PuhfImSzYmNmH4G4ffJ0ZwEc”]Daniel Asiedu, 29, stunned the packed court, when he expressed the desire to take the 14-year victim for a wife.

He had committed the crime at Bompata, in the Asante-Akim South District, in January, and admitted his guilt.

Police Detective Sergeant Princeton Peasah Darkwah told the court presided over by Mr Fredrick Tetteh that the convict, is a teacher at Asankare but stays at Bompata.

He collected a science textbook belonging to the victim and refused to give it back despite persistent demands made on him to return it.

The prosecution said sometime in January, the girl joined other members of her church at a crusade held at Bompata and decided to take advantage of the event to go for her book, and Asiedu seized the opportunity and forcibly had sex with her.

On May 4, the girl complained of severe abdominal pains and was taken to the Juaso District Hospital for treatment by her uncle.

Doctors, attending to her, requested for pregnancy test and the result showed she was carrying a 20-week pregnancy.

The prosecution said she told the uncle about the traumatic experience she was taken through by the convict and a formal report was made to the police.
