The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will on Sunday begin a one week of fasting and prayer session to seek God’s intervention in the “crisis” within the party.
This was announced by flag bearer of the party, Nana Akufo-Addo at a press conference in Accra on Friday.
The National Women’s Organiser of the NPP, Otiko Djaba speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show suggested that the NPP should declare a day to fast and pray to help deliver the party from what she describes as “demon of confusion.“
Speaking to the press at the Party’s headquarters on Friday, Nana Addo endorsed the call.

I have no doubt that, with the help of Almighty God and by our collective determination, the storms that are currently buffeting the great, historic movement that the NPP represents will soon subside, so that it can fulfill its mission of developing our nation in freedom,” he said.
Nana Addo was speaking at the press conference to calm tensions which have arisen after the death of Upper East Regional Chairman of the NPP, Adam Mahama.
Adam Mahama died after he was attacked with an acid about a week ago.
There have been calls for the resignation of the National Chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong since his death.
Kennedy Agyapong had predicted the possible collapse of the NPP, if the party’s National Chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong are not prosecuted for the killing of Adam Mahama.
Earlier, former President, John Agyekum Kufuor called on the NPP members to stop fighting each other in the media.
He cautioned party members against “acrimonious accusations in the media” which he said “only serve to further divide their ranks and allow heir detractors to infiltrate them.”
I will tolerate no chaos
He further called for calm saying, “I will not tolerate chaos within our party. The recriminations against ourselves in this period of healing, I repeat, must stop.”
