The Union of Industry, Commercial and Finance Workers (UNICOF) has unanimously resolved to continue pushing for the removal of the Managing Director of the Agricultural Development Bank (adb), Stephen Kpordzih and the bank’s board.
[contextly_sidebar id=”89V8m0KWvDBkaWjuvaCzYx5C3oh5Qrfz”]“We want a better deal for adb but we think the current leadership of adb are not the ones to lead us where the bank should go,” UNICOF’s General Secretary, John Esiape explained.
Members of UNICOF signaled their intent to embark on a series of public protests against the management of the bank over alleged acts of financial misappropriation and the scheduled Initial Public Offering (IPO) of the bank’s shares.
They were however asked to suspend their plans following a meeting with Employment and Labour Relations Minister, Haruna Iddrisu.
The bank also agreed to put on hold the IPO which would have seen the bank offload about 100 million shares representing 75 percent ownership of the bank to raise about GH¢300 million.
Presently, the Bank of Ghana (BoG) has initiated investigations into the allegations being leveled against the MD and the board of governors.
Nonetheless, John Esiape told Citi News, their resolve is to back government’s decision to institute investigations into the running of adb.
He argued that the workers of the bank “want progress; we want better performance and so on. Their result is what we are seeing so we think it will be honurable if we should do that and save all of us the trouble.”
