Leading members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by its flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo have converged on Bolgatanga to observe the final burial rites of the party’s Upper East Regional chairman, Adam Mahama.
The party’s national chairman and General Secretary, Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong are however absent.

The group has threatened mayhem should these personalities make an appearance.
“We have given a list of some members of this family that we would not want to see them here tomorrow – It is not a mere saying. You are hearing people saying they don’t want to see the National Chairman and the General Secretary here. It is not a joke,” one of the group leaders warned.
Citi News’ Upper East Regional correspondent, Fred Awuni reported that all is set for the final burial rites.
He indicated that security has been tightened at the regional capital and at the residence of Adam Mahama to avert any possible disturbances.
An acid attack on Adam Mahama on Wednesday night led to his death on Thursday at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital where he was receiving treatment.
The younger brother of Gregory Afoko has been picked up by the Police over his alleged involvement in the incident.
He has been brought to Accra to assist the Police with investigations.
The Afoko family has issued a statement insisting on the innocence of Gregory Afoko but the aggrieved party youth are determined to kick the national chairman and General Secretary out of the party.
They have given a 24-hour ultimatum to the two national leaders to resign or face their wrath.
