The Executive Director of Nigerian based counter terrorism and security professionals Network, Oludare Ogunlana, has observed that the successes was due to a renewed effort on the part of President Goodluck Jonathan to fight the menace.
President Jonathan has come under severe criticism for not doing enough to free the Chibok girls as well as end the six-year-long Boko Haram insurgency that has claimed 13,000 lives and forced at least 1.5 million people to flee their homes.
In an interview with Citi News, Oludare Ogunlana praised President Goodluck Jonathan for the achievement, adding that “towards the tail end of Jonathan’s administration, he decided to motivate the Nigeria military and that is responsible for a lot of achievement they’ve chalked so far.”
He added that Boko Haram’s stronghold in the Sambisa forest have been subdued.
“As am talking to you today, Sambisa forest has been bombarded…communication lines have been cut to them [Boko Haram]…The terrorist in Nigeria are running helter-skelter, they are already leaving the Sambisa forest because they’ve gone out of food, out logistics and ammunition,” addedd Oludare Ogunlana.
