A Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Annie Gaisie has said the rapists of the YFM presenter could be “sick,” after they shared the act on Facebook.
The victim Adaeze Onyinyechie Ayoka, also known as Ms Ada, had gone missing for almost a week in the Western Region but news broke on Tuesday that she was abducted and sexually abused by a group of about 5 men.
Answering questions on the Citi Breakfast Show about why they would publicize such a heinous crime, Dr Gaisie said: “For them, they feel that ‘the power is in my hands to decide what should happen’ and these people are sick – it’s an abnormal behaviour.”

“Sometimes, you will hear it happened in India and you will hear news in Kenya, then you will hear news in Afghanistan. What happens is that, as these people pick up the news, it actually triggers something in their brain which says that it is acceptable,” Dr. Gaisie explained.
According to her, “As far as their brain is concerned, if it is happening somewhere, then what I want to do or what I have been doing is acceptable so I have to continue doing it and it gives them a positive affirmation that it’s okay for them to behave that way. They then go out and do it so you will hear that it is a chain of events – It’s happening here, it’s happening there. Now we can go out and harm more.”
“You will hear that the pattern goes on and on and on but these people need treatment. They need to be corrected.”
