An NPP aspirant vying for the Tema West Constituency seat , Carlos Ahenkorah has described as “ill informed” the decision by some party members to sue him for transferring his vote to the constituency.
Carlos who filed his nomination to contest the unit committee election was dragged to the Human Rights Division of High Court for allegedly transferring vote from Tema Central Constituency to Tema West Constituency.
Three applicants, Nana Yaw Ntim, Duane Augustine Holdbrook and Edward Osei Nyarko subsequently prayed the High Court for an order of injunction restraining Mr. Ahenkorah from “contesting in and voting at the Unit Committee election in the Tema West Constituency.”
However speaking on Eyewitness News, Mr. Ahenkorah said the suit was unnecessary since it was the Electoral Commission(EC) which permitted him to transfer his vote.
“I think that those of the members who decided to go to court on this matter or the person who sponsored it was ill informed. When it[matter] got to court …it was proved by EC that they cross checked my resident status, they cross checked everything that they need to cross check ..and they gave me the right to vote.”
He believes the suit shows that some persons who do not support his bid are trying to “find ways to thwart” his efforts.
Tema residents are not getting what they want
The NPP aspirant who is contesting the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Tema West Constituency , Naa Torshie also asked residents in the area to vote him into power since they are not “ getting what they want” from the incumbent MP.
“The delegates, the kingmakers have come to the conclusion that it is time to change to someone else.”
I can do the job – Vincent Odoi
Another NPP aspirant vying for the La Dade Kotopon seat , Vincent Odotei is optimistic he will be effective when he is voted into power.
Speaking on Eyewitness News, the former Chief Executive Officer of Hearts of Oak, said: “It’s time to make this official. I will bring the same tenacity I had in football to politics”
“The incumbent has never faced a candidate with my passion and I believe I have the qualities for the job,”he remarked.
Odotei believes he deserves to be the MP of the area since he had been an “active participant” in the area even when he was deeply involved in football.
