The member of Parliament for the Talensi constituency in the Upper East region Robert Nachinab Doaneng who contested and won on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has revealed his desire to become the paramount chief of the Talensi traditional area.
[contextly_sidebar id=”yWEoAfs188ad2wLUHb4Apb977yQqU2vv”]This was disclosed few days after the final funeral rites of the late Tongo-Raana Sapaalug-Namalteng Boara Yenga Kolbil.
This will be his second time of contesting the skin with about thirty-two (32) candidates after he lost to the late Tongo-Raana Sapaalug-Namalteng in Nalerigu on 23rd May, 2007.
Speaking to Citi News, Robert Doaneng confirmed his intention and added that if he is successful and enskined, he will not contest the upcoming primaries to contest on the ticket of the NPP.
He also refuted claims that he (Robert Doaneng) has resign as Talensi member of parliament and also confirmed that the NPP MP’S in parliament and some party members were aware of his contest of the skin.
Credible sources from the party however can confirmed that interested persons such as Mr. Robert Alibo, Mr. Thomas Doanaab and Mr. Williams Zuugah are all potential candidates who have showed interest to contest the parliamentary primaries to replace the incumbent MP if he is enskined as paramount chief of the Talensi traditional area.
All contestants in the Talensi paramountcy race including Robert Nachinab Doaneng have left the Talensi traditional land on Sunday 26th April, for Nalerigu where the final enskinment of a new paramount chief for the Talensi traditional area will be done.
